Finding the Perfect Fit
May 27, 2025 - Career Development
When you first start out as a freelancer or junior developer, it’s tempting to say "I accept everything." Of course, you want to work and minimize the time you spend without earning. Getting that first gig or job feels like proof that your hard work in learning complex skills wasn’t in vain. In fact, when you lack experience, lowering your expectations can help you land an opportunity to prove yourself.
However, with time, you learn to be more selective. You realize it’s better to clearly state your conditions upfront rather than sifting through unsuitable proposals later. Recruiters will appreciate your honesty. Understand what suits you in terms of remote work, earnings, and management style. Seek opportunities for growth and learning, even if you don’t perfectly match the job requirements. It’s better to apply and challenge yourself than to settle into complacency.
Life is too short—wait for the right fit that truly makes you happy.
